Underwater Oxygen Respirator – Triton

To breathe under water, we must learn how to use complicated oxygen respirator. If we can stay under water for a long time through an easy way, many changes will occur in our marine lifestyle.

With the TRITON Oxygen Respirator, it might be possible to breathe beneath the surface of the water as if you were a fish. Requiring no bulky tank to keep your lungs pumping properly, this piece of scuba diving equipment is ergonomic and organic in design.

TRITON is a 2013 sadi product innovation studio project by Korean designer Jeabyun Yeon.

TRITON is a very convenient oxygen respirator concept. It allows us to breathe under water for a long time by simply biting it. It also does not require the skill of breathing in and out while biting mouth piece like conventional respirator. It is a portal oxygen respirator for breathing under water as if being on ground by simply biting it.

The regulator comprises a plastic mouthpiece that requires you to simply bite down. Connected to this, there are two arms that branch out to the sides of the scuba mask, developed to function like the efficient gills of a marine creature. The scaly texture conceals small holes in the material where water is sucked into Jeabyun Yeon‘s TRITON. Inner chambers separate the liquid and release it, enabling you to breathe the collected oxygen comfortably in the ocean.

Thinking ahead, apart from applications in the Scuba industry, this could well find its way onto private, commercial and military ships as a safety device issued to all crew and passengers, aircraft too if they have to ditch into the sea.

With slight modification, it could also be used on land, by firefighters in smoke filled building for example.

The weight savings will help emergency responders to move around more easily too without having to carry bulky and heavy tanks around with them.
